Painkillers Are Becoming Easy to Get, Like Candy

There has been an up-rise on prescription drugs in the Colorado area. Usually people get addicted to prescription pills from having pain and their doctor prescribe them pain killers and after a couple of uses they get addicted. Doctors know that it is very easy for a person to get addicted to these drugs and they still give them out like there candy.

According to 9news, deaths in Colorado from prescription pills have skyrocket. It has become such a chronic problem that the rates have tripled since 2000.

It is very easy for people to get there hands on prescription drugs:

Doctors and medical professionals are one of the main culprits of the epidemic; when people complain about headaches or back pain they usually prescribe pain killers. Sometime the prescription can have two to three refills so that can last for a while.

Other sources of prescription medications:

Dentists: Usually when you would go to a dentist and complain about a toothache they would prescribe you an ointment that would basically numb the pain now dentist are even giving out prescription pills. There is really no way to see if a person is lying about a toothache dentist are just trusting their patients.
Friends or Family: Addicts will go to a loved one and complain about a pain they are having and the family member will give it to them not thinking twice about it. If they are not asking it is a good chance that they are going over their houses and just stealing them. The family and friends don’t notice it because they don’t count how many pills they have in their possession.
Drug Dealers: Like how heroin, cocaine, and marijuana users get their fix its the same thing with prescription addicts. Usually its very inexpensive to get the drugs from a dealer because they are so easy to get a hold of.
The Internet: You buy clothes, shoes, and toys off the internet you can also buy drugs. They have black websites which blocks out the government to see what is actually going on. They send your items under a different name and no one would ever know.

Prescription drug abuse would decrease if it wasn’t for easy for addicts to get a hold of them, until the chase becomes harder the numbers will continue to increase.
